The Civil Engineering Association (CEA) was inaugurated by Dr. Adeela Abdulla IAS, Sub-Collector ,Tirur on 28 Sep 2016 at MESCE Auditorium. The Presidential Address was given by Prof (Dr.) V.H. Abdul Salam, Principal MESCE and a special Address were given by Prof P O J Lebba, Secretary - MES , Prof (Dr.) K. P Mohammed, Director MESCE during the occasion. The various technical events and cultural programs in the department were organised by the CEA, under the leadership of Ms. Divya Mohanan, Staff Advisor of CEA since 2016.

PROGRAMME / EVENT DESCRIPTION
Introduction:
The Civil Engineering Department of MES College of Engineering organized a visit to Pratheeksha
Bhavan in Tavanur.The institute primarily focuses on providing support & rehabilitation for mentally
challenged men above the age of 18 yrs.One such institution exists at Tavanur, Malappuram. The visit,
conducted by the final year students, aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the institute’s
processes and facilities. Agenda:
1. Overview of Pratheeksha Bhavan:
• Introduction to Pratheeksha Bhavan Authorities and their roles at the institute.
2. Facilities:
• In-depth explanation of several facilities aimed at supporting its residents.
3. Programs &Activities:
.Pratheeksha Bhavan conducts various programs, including Educational programs,Vocational training
workshops and awareness campaigns.
4. Community Engagement:
• The institution actively engages with the local community through outreach programs,encouraging
volunteer participation and support. This helps in raising awareness and fostering a more inclusive
society.
5. Achievements:
• Students had the opportunity to participate in workshops & activities developing teamwork,
communication and leadership skills.
Key Learnings:
• Understanding the various rehabilitation techniques & educational programs .
• Students became active participants in their community.
• Students can learn the importance of advocating for inclusive practices in communities.
• Student Feedback:Students expressed appreciation for the immersive learning experience.
Conclusion:
They found the visit particularly transformative. The industrial visit to Pratheeksha Bhavan proved to
be a valuable and educative experience for the final year students of the Civil Engineering Department.
It not only expanded their understanding of the institute but also enriched their education and helping
them grow as individuals.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the oldest national professional engineering society. Several technical and non-technical programmes were conducted from March 2019 onwards and based on the variety of programmes conducted, ASCE student chapter was awarded in September 2020.

The workshop on "Introduction to SketchUp Software" held at MES College of Engineering,
Kuttippuram, in association with CEA, ASCE, and ICI Student Chapters, provided a comprehensive
learning experience for final-year civil engineering students. The event took place on February 27,

The workshop aimed to familiarize students with SketchUp Software, emphasizing its applications in
the field of civil engineering. The event began with an inaugural session, where distinguished speakers

ICI MESCE awarded for the Best Student Chapter-under Calicut Centre consecutively for the third year in 2020 . The Hat-trick award was a proud moment for the ICI MESCE. Due to the restrictions affected by the COVID-19 pandemic the award ceremony was conducted through online mode. Both the staff coordinator and chairperson had a crucial role in conducting the programs both offline and online during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Indian Concrete Institute is one of the leading professional bodies in India, catering to the professional needs of individuals and organisations involved in Concrete. ICI embraces budding civil engineers through ICI Students Chapters. As a milestone in the history of Civil Engineering Department of MESCE, the first college in self- financing sector in Kerala, the inaugural function of ICI - STUDENT CHAPTER was conducted on 28th January 2016 at college auditorium by – Dr. Manmohan R. Kalgal, President, ICI, India, in the presence of Er. K. Jayashankar (Vice President ICI, South India), Er. Sajith Bhasker (Secretary, ICI, Calicut Chapter) and Er. M.A. Joseph (Chairman, ICI, Cochin Chapter). The Function was whole heartedly promoted by Prof. P.O.J Lebba, Secretary, MES, along with Dr. K.P. Mohammed, Director, MESCE and Dr. V. H . Abdul Salam, Principal, MESCE, with the support and guidelines of Prof. P.K. Abdul Latheef ( HOD, Civil Engineering Department, MESCE) which made it a great success. ICI STUDENT CHAPTER became an impetus to the students of Civil Engineering Department to move in search of developments in concrete Technology.
