The department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation began functioning in the college in 1994 and since its inception, graduating students have been well placed in reputed establishments across the world.The department is having an annual intake of 60. Department is accredited with NBA of AICTE and is ISO certified.

The Instrumentation Technology, being an inter-disciplinary branch of engineering, is heading towards development of new & intelligent sensors, smart transducers, MEMS Technology, Blue tooth Technology. The automation systems in the production are rapidly being enhanced and the demand for highly skilled instrumentation engineers is on the rise.

In the instrumentation systems manufacturing sector, the demand for well trained process control engineering graduates is always present. This BTech course provides Instrumentation students with sound theoretical & practical training in the operation and design of electronic instruments, digital logic systems, and computer based automatic process control & instrumentation, & automatic control system design, etc.

To meet the industrial requirements of future, students are also made to become well versed with personal computer applications in Instrumentation, Process Control Systems Design, PLCs, DSP Architecture & Design, Microprocessors and Microcontroller System Design & Experimentation, Industrial Electronics & Applications.

The Department has well equipped laboratories and computing facilities, with latest technology and syllabus requirements. The department faculty rooms and the laboratories are connected by the institute LAN linking with all other departments and the Internet world outside.

Well qualified faculty and skilled supporting staff are the strengths of the department.

School Of Architecture

        


In the modern world of technology, architecture is a profession with a different note transcending
art, science and technology. It opens up the world of creativity and talents, offering a brilliant
career opportunity at global level. Architecture encompasses the four fields of human endeavor -
humanities, science, art and technology. The essence of architecture is creativity - designing of
buildings and built environment to satisfy functional, emotional, structural and socio-economic
needs. It is also concerned with energy conservation, ecology, environmental protection and
heritage.

The education and practice of Architecture is regulated by the Council of Architecture
constituted under Architect act 1972.Only persons possessing a qualification recognized by the
Council of Architecture and who has valid registration with the Council of Architecture are
permitted to practice as architect as per law.

The Architecture course was started in the MES College of Engineering from the academic year
1999 - 2000 with an aim to meet the demand of architects globally. The department is known as
MES School of Architecture. This is an institution approved by the Council of Architecture,
Constituted under Architect's act 1972. It is also recognized by the AICTE and Government of
Kerala. The course is affiliated to the Calicut University. The present intake for the B. Arch
course is 40. The school has the state of the art facilities. P. G. Program M Arch in Advanced
Architecture was started in the year 2014.

MES School of Architecture is headed by its Director - DR. Prasanna T K who has more than 2
decades of experience in academics in the field of architecture.




Civil Engineering

        


The AICTE has given approval for starting B.Tech degree course in Civil Engineering during the academic year 2007 - 2008 with a sanctioned intake of 40. Academic year 2009-2010 increased the intake to 60.

The department is currently headed by Prof.Abdul Latheef who has wide teaching experience of about 4 decades in the various universities of Kerala. The department has a group of dedicated, experienced and well qualified faculty.

Our Survey laboratory and Material Testing laboratory are well equipped with most modem equipments. The department also offers testing of construction materials on a consultancy basis and issues test certificates to various Government and private agencies.

Computer Science & Engineering

        


Computer science (or computing science) is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation and application in computer systems.

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering started functioning from the very beginning of this college. The department has well equipped classrooms & labs. Classes are spacious, well furnished & well ventilated for providing a good environment for students for learning. Labs are fully air conditioned & computers and peripherals are timely upgraded.

The department has 2Mbps broadband Internet connection in all the labs and staff rooms, which provides good academic support for staffs and students. The department has a spacious seminar hall, which has got good multimedia conferencing facilities.

The department library has got a large number of books and journals in computer science and engineering. Library also had back up volumes of the previous year's seminar and project reports for student's reference.

The department provides very good computing facilities for learning and research. Department has the following labs under its cap, Advanced Computer Center, Systems lab, Project & Internet lab and Microprocessor & Embedded Systems lab. The Campus Network Cell (CNC) under the Department Controls the whole networking and software solutions for the Campus. The most modern power backup facilities ensure non interrupted functioning of department activities.

Electrical Electronics & Engineering

        


Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) is characterized by a diversity of fields encompassing areas of research, design, development and operation of electrical systems. This includes Electronics, Power Generation Systems & Distribution, Computer Systems, Internet hardware, Bio medical Engineering, Space Exploration Systems and many more.

Technical areas within the EEE discipline include Electro magnetics, Electronics, Power Systems, Control Systems, Instrumentation Systems, Digital systems, Power Electronics, Signal processing and Communications. Involvement of Electrical Engineers stretch from designing , implementing , maintaining and improving motors to radars. The course provides an excellent platform for imparting knowledge in the latest technology resorting to computer based education in a software environment.

With ever increasing demand for energy and newer areas of energy production, the course provides ample opportunities for employment. Established in 1999 with an intake of 40 students, the undergraduate program in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, MESCE is currently having an intake of 60 students.

The program also entertains a lateral entry for diploma holders as per AICTE norms in the third semester. In addition to this regular course, department endeavors to conduct various short-term and training programmes.

It is needless to say that for quality engineering education, students and faculty must be definitely exposed to the latest technologies and recent developments that are taking place in the fields of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Information technology. The department is very much committed towards this direction.

The department started functioning right from the inception of the college in 1994 with an intake of 60.The intake was increased to 90 in 2000 and then to 120 in 2002.The B-Tech Degree course in Electronics and Commnication Engineering offered by the Department follows the curriculum and syllabi as well as the rules and regulations of the University of Calicut.

This course is of 8 semesters and covers a period of 4 years, strictly conforms to the AICTE norms and regulations. The department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of AICTE. A Students chapter of IEEE is actively functioning in the department. Students Association of the department namely Association of Electronics and Communication Engineering (AECE) organises various activities benefecial for the students of the department.

Mechanical Engineering

        


Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the application of principles of physics for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It requires a solid understanding of key concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics and energy. Mechanical engineers use these principles and others in the design and analysis of automobiles, aircraft, heating & cooling systems, manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, medical devices and more.

One of several recognized fields of engineering. To grasp the meaning of mechanical engineering, it is desirable to take a close look at what engineering really is. The Engineers' Council for Professional Development has defined engineering as the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and physical sciences gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize economically the materials and forces of nature for the progressive well-being of mankind.

It is a profession in which study in mathematics and science is blended with experience and judgment for the production of useful things. Established in 1994 with an intake of 60 students, the undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, MESCE is currently having an intake of 60 students and post graduate program in 'Thermal Systems' with an intake of 18.

The program also entertains a lateral entry in UG for diploma holders as per AICTE norms in the third semester. In addition to this regular course, department endeavors to conduct various short-term and training programmes .
