First prize in the National level competition DRUSE conducted by DRDO

‘AYUDA’ a six wheeled robot developed by the students from MES college of engineering Kuttippuram Malappuram won the first prize in the National level competition DRUSE conducted by DRDO. DRUSE (DRDO Robotics and Unmanned Systems Exposition), nation-wide competition designed to serve as an open platform to popularize and synergize the national talent in the area of robotics amongst student community for development of Unmanned Systems for defence applications. .

A total of 1088 teams across the country participated in the three level competition organised by Pune based research development establishment ( engineers),a premier laboratory of DRDO. The self controlled robot ‘AYUDA’ team from MES college of engineering Kuttippuram won the first prize of Rs. 1.5 lakhs. The team consisting of Fazila Salim, Suraj K, Faris T, Basith KV and Arjun Hari with team leader KK Dibu was guided by Dr Maya G. IIT Kharagpur team’s concept of ‘Multi Terrain Heterogeneous Swarm’ proposed for surveillance of multi-storey buildings won the second prize worth Rs. one Lakh. The team from College of Engg. Pune (COEP), won the third prize worth Rs. fifty thousand. The COEP team had proposed ‘Compressed Air Powered Human Exoskeleton Suit’.

AYUDA is a combat 6 wheel robotic vehicle is designed for dynamic operation in difficult terrain. Its a soldier assistance and surveillance vehicle the main goal of the vehicle is to carry the ammunition and goods of soldiers during a war period .The vehicle automatically follow the soldiers using image processing and 3d mapping.

The vehicle was developed as a part of the final year project in the FABLAB of the college.
