FabLab - MESCE
FabLab digital fabrication laboratories were set up to inspire people and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into new products and prototypes by giving them access to a range of advanced digital manufacturing technologies. The idea was conceived by renowned inventor and scientist, Professor Neil Gershenfeld at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
At the heart of “FabLab - MESCE” is digital manufacturing technology, combininig 2D and 3D design with the latest fabrication technology. Embracing a broad spectrum of methods ranging from CNC machining to 3D printing, and even PCB Milling. It can produce a single unique product from a digital design in a matter of minutes- and at a very low cost in comparison to traditional tooling methods.
“FabLab - MESCE” also hosts a number other technologies and equipments which provide broad manufacturing capability, including precision laser cutters and moulding and milling equipment through electronic components and circuit boards.
DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SERIES
The Departments of Information Technology and Computer Science & Computer Science and Engineering, MES College of Engineering Kuttipuram, is jointly organized Distinguished Lecture Series on “Next Generation Multi-core Systems - An Architectural Outlook” by Dr. John Jose, IIT Guwahati for faculty members, research scholars and PG/UG students on 13th July 2017 (Thursday) from 10.00 AM to 12.30 AM. The aim of the Distinguished Lecture Series is to bring experts from premier institutes in the country like, IIT’s, NIT’s, etc. and from industries for the benefit of our students. Another motive of the program is for creating a platform for our students to get internship opportunities and collaboration in terms of MOU with the research labs (under the invited faculty) in premier institutes.
Dr. John Jose is an assistant professor in CSE Dept, IIT Guwahati, since July 2015. He did his doctoral research from IIT Madras and M. Tech at VIT Vellore. His research interest is in computer architecture with a special focus to performance optimization related to on-chip memory and communication aspects of multi/many core processors.
The talk was really motivating for the students for familiarizing the latest concepts on Multi-core computer systems and research issues related to the area. Altogether 18 faculty members and 71 students were attended the program. In summary, the program was useful for both students as well as faculty members in the institution for familiarizing the latest research issues going in the premier institutes in India.
